We tested the MULLET Nugget 4'8 softboard for you. We had classic summer conditions, with waves no bigger than one meter. It had been over a month since we last had decent waves. We took advantage of this mini-swell to ask our friend Adrien to be our guinea pig.
To be honest, he wasn't enthusiastic and would have preferred to ride his everyday PU board. With a bit of convincing, he decided to go into the water with the Nugget 4'8 from Mullet, the Australian softboard brand. Adrien is 1.85m tall and weighs 70kg, and even though a 4'8 seems too short, its well-distributed volume seems to have done the job.
Softboard Center: Adrien, you weren't thrilled to take the softie out. What's your feeling after the session?
Adrien: No, that's for sure. We haven't had waves for a month, and I saw myself more with my everyday board. But hey, since you insisted (laughs)! When you showed me the board, I immediately thought it was way too short. Then, when I got into the water, I was good at paddling, which surprised me because in my head I really thought I was going to sink. For the first 3 waves, I had trouble positioning my feet, finding my balance. I still managed to gain speed as soon as I caught a wave, because the board is wide with little rocker, you gain speed directly. I managed to do mini-turns; I didn't think it would turn so well, and above all, you keep control. In short, in an hour-long session, I caught about ten waves, and I had a good laugh with a board for which I had no expectations. I'm not saying this to please you, but the result is a conclusive one (laughs)!
